San Bernardino Motorcycle Accident Kills Los Angeles Man

A Los Angeles man was killed earlier this week as the result of a motorcycle accident. The 35-year-old was riding on a busy street in Victorville when a motorist made a left turn in front of him. The motorcyclist then collided with the car, sustaining fatal injuries.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest dangers facing motorcyclists is other motorists. When car or truck drivers become distracted, fail to share the road, or even stop to look before changing lanes, the risk of motorcycle accidents with serious injuries increases.

Recent campaigns aimed at increasing motorcycle safety awareness have targeted motorcyclists, reminding riders to wear helmets and other protective gear. However, all California motorists must work to increase their awareness of others on the road - sharing and respecting other modes of transportation. When drivers turn left, always look to see if a motorcyclist, bicyclist, or even other vehicle is approaching.

California Highway Patrol Officer Injured In Hit And Run

An off-duty California Highway Patrol officer suffered serious injuries Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a car. A driver of silver Toyota Tundra caused the motorcycle accident, but fled the scene.

The accident occurred after the driver of the Toyota tailgated one car, and then hit the CHP officer, forcing him to change lanes. The car then veered into the lane and the motorcycle crashed into the curb.

The CHP officer sustained significant lower leg injuries, with one witness stating that the officer's leg was severed in the crash.

Motorcycle accidents are one of California's most dangerous roadway accidents. Due to the high-risk nature of riding a motorcycle, when accidents occur, the resulting injuries can be severe. Injuries may include traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, neck and back injuries as well as loss of limbs. An accident such as this one may have a lasting impact on the motorcyclist's ability to earn a living.

Although it's impossible to prevent all accidents from occurring, following a few safety tips such as wearing a helmet and other protective clothing, as well as being aware of other vehicles on the road, may help limit the frequency and severity of motorcycle accidents.

Hopefully, the driver that caused this serious motorcycle accident will be found soon and provide the CHP officer the compensation he deserves.
